We do our best to ensure expectations are set ahead of time, including timing and value expectations. We want every customer to exit each transaction feeling like the service was worthwhile, and that the expectations they had coming in were met or exceeded.

This shipment contained just under 1400 cards (not the 2000 cited in the review). The maximum possible payout if everything had been near mint was approximately $2,250 before our fees. The TCGLow value of the cards if everything was near mint was about $3,115 (not the $3600 cited in this review). Our typical fees for this transaction type (Standard) is 10% + $0.03 per card - or roughly $267 if everything was near mint.

Selling cards on your own via a marketplace will typically result in a better payout than using our service, though the time and effort to sell 1400 cards would be significant. There are also substantial costs associated with selling via marketplaces, especially when the average card value is on the lower side of things ($2.25 average card value at TCGLow, in this case). To sell 1400 cards, you might expect to ship 100-300 packages over a period of several weeks/months. The cost of shipping, marketplace fees, materials/supplies, and lost packages/disputes would be significant - not to mention the time/labor to package and mail those cards.

We do allow customers to review their results on all shipments before they are finalized. This customer specifically stated they did not want any cards returned due to needing the money urgently. We are willing to return entire shipments to customers at our own expense, and this can be an important option when we cannot get on the same page on the evaluation of the cards. The customer is correct that selling the cards individually on their own would have resulted in a better financial result, but the cost to sell a collection like this should always be factored into whether our service is worthwhile. We did our best to offer the best value for this mix of cards, including a reduction in our fees, and feel that the result here was exceptional verses other selling options.

The best you can do if you are surprised by any grades is to reach out to us. We are always happy to provide context, pictures, and support for the grades we have assigned the cards. This is the reason every shipment sent in has the opportunity to review before we finalize it - we want you to be happy with your shipment, and if you are unhappy, we are more than willing to return your cards to you at our expense. We must grade cards in the condition they are received, though, and that cannot and does not factor in how recently it was opened from a booster pack.

Most importantly in response to this review, the grade we assign every card in every shipment is the grade it is listed for sale. The allegation that we do otherwise is false.
